Imported Right Under Our Noses
Only one Prosecco has inspired us to grab our phone and text Italy: the Corazza Extra Dry.
We were at a Malibu restaurant having lunch with a few friends. When we asked the server to recommend a bottle of bubbly to go with our order of oysters, octopus carpaccio, and spicy tuna tartare, she said, “You have to try the Corazza Prosecco.”
“Corazza?” we asked, perking up and knowing the name couldn’t be a coincidence. We snapped a pic of the label and WhatsApped it to our importer friend Alex Corazza, who’s brought us some unforgettable white wines.
“Holding out on us?!?!?!” we typed. Alex possesses an unfathomable knowledge and sterling portfolio of Italian white wines—but his own label? That was news to us.
“LOL,” he wrote back. “Ristorante only for now! You want some?”
We let Alex know in very certain terms that we wanted every bottle we could get for our members.
Alex knows better than anyone how glorious Northern Italian white wines and sparklers are, and he knew that, with his extensive connections, he could make a fine Prosecco—and crush the competition on price by importing it himself.
His success is evident in every sip.
Alex’s Prosecco hails from the fabled hills outside Valdobbiadene, which boast microclimates that feature stark diurnal temperature variations. The grapes there show gorgeous ripeness and vibrating acidity, and his bubbly carries the nuances of that terroir..
This is as straight a line as we can draw from the hills of Northern Italy to your glass. Stock up and make this the bottle you grab anytime the moment calls for an exceptional glass of bubbles.
